Hi, friends! Are you ready for the upcoming holiday season? It’s nearly October which means the holidays will be here in a flash! How many of you have already gotten started on your shopping? If you have, major props to you! I’m totally a procrastinator when it comes to holiday shopping. I’ll look around a lot and see lots of great things, but I always end up buying things for myself during the big sales LOL. And everyone else becomes a last minute thought – sorry guys!
If you are getting started on your holiday shopping, hopefully today’s post will be helpful to you! Today is the third installment of my Sephora Gift Guide Series.
As you can see, the first two were focused on products from Sephora that cost under $10 (well technically, $10 or less), so today’s post will be focused on products that are $20 or less!
Sephora just released a ton of holiday and limited edition sets that are of really great value, especially for the cost. I dug through the entire Sephora website and picked out the 10 sets that I thought were the best – as gifts, or for yourself! These really would make great small gifts though, especially for friends and co-workers that you just want to get something small to show you care.
In addition to my top 10 sets for $20 or less, I’ve also listed 10 mini items that you can get for that price. Minis aren’t normally the best value, but they are great for traveling light and sometimes you just don’t want to commit to buying the full-size of product. Purchasing minis is a great way to try out a product if you can’t physically go down to the store for a sample. (Also, depending on the product type, sometimes getting a sample is just impossible, unfortunately.)
If you’re reading this before 11/19/18, be sure to take advantage of the annual Sephora Fall VIB Sale! More information on the sale can be found here.
So, without further do, let’s get started!
This post is NOT sponsored by Sephora – my world just revolves around makeup and I want to share my world with you. However, affiliate links may be used in this post. Read my full disclosure here. All photos are from the Sephora website or the product’s brand website.
Also, any time you are planning on making an online purchase, don’t forget to use Ebates! AND SEPHORA IS A PARTICIPATING STORE YAY! Use Ebates every time you order something online so you can get a bit of your money back! (Some stores even offer in-store cash back) I’ve made over $500 in cash back from Ebates since I started under 2 years ago and I literally only buy makeup LOL so if you’re not using it, you’re totally missing out! Kat Von D – Tattoo Liner Duo | $20
This set includes two minis of Kat Von D’s popular liners:
0.007 oz/0.2 mL Tattoo Liner in Trooper Black
0.007 oz/0.2 mL Dagger Tattoo Liner in Trooper Black
The Tattoo Liner is one of the best brush-tip liners I’ve ever tried and the Dagger Tattoo Liner features the same award-winning Tattoo Liner formula, but with a dagger-like brush tip (cut at an angle) designed to help created the perfect wings every time.
Kat Von D – Lolita Lip Duo | $14.29
Another Kat Von D set with some of her most popular products! The Lolita Lip Duo includes, you guessed it, a mini size version of the ultra-popular Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. Also included is a mini version of the shade Lolita II.
2 x 0.10 oz/3 mL Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita (chestnut rose), Lolita II (terra cotta nude)
The Everlasting Liquid Lipstick formula is known for being lightweight and long-wearing and Lolita is highly praised as a neutral shade that works on almost every complexion, which is great if you’re getting this as a gift for someone!
NARS – Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil Duo | $20 ($40 value)
This is the perfect product for those who want to quickly add some color to their lips. It meshes together the ease of application of a lipstick and the precision of a pencil. It has an instant matte finish (no one likes waiting for liquid lipstick to dry!) and is comfortable to wear all day.
There are two sets available:
Cruella & Dolce Vita – scarlet red & dusty rose
Damned & Walkyrie – magenta & warm coral red creme (pictured)
Urban Decay – All Day All Night Travel Duo | $19 ($30 value)
The All Nighter Setting Spray is definitely one of the best setting sprays in all of makeup and I know for a fact that it’s a permanent fixture in A TON of people’s makeup routine. This mini size is perfect to throw in a purse/bag for a quick makeup refresher during the day and it’s great for traveling.
The Quick Fix Spray is designed to hydrate, soothe, and prep your skin for makeup application. It visibly reduces the look of pores, brightens and smooths skin, and replaces lost moisture.
1 oz/30 mL All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (travel size)
1 oz/30 mL Quick Fix Complexion Prep Priming Spray (travel size)
Urban Decay – Urban Lockdown Travel Duo | $19 ($30 value)
This is another great set that includes the All Night Setting Spray! It also includes a mini version of the Optical Illusion Complexion Primer, which is a smoothing primer that reduces the look of fine lines and pores.
If you’re struggling to decide which set is better (between this one and the one above), I’d say it’s all about personal preference. I personally like this kind of primer more than a priming spray, but that’s just me!
0.5 oz/14.7 mL Optical Illusion Complexion Primer Mini
1 oz/30 mL Travel Size All Nighter Setting Spray
Tarte – Quench Squad Hydrating Mini Lip Set – Rainforest of the Sea Collection | $20 ($36 value)
This set is such a great value! You get 4 mini versions of the Quench Lip Rescue Balm for only $20! That’s only $5 each! Bonus – super cute festive packaging.
Lip balms are my preferred type of lip color to wear because of its comfort and ease of application. So if you’re lazy when it comes to your lips (or you’re shopping for someone who is) like I am, this is the set for you!
4 x 0.035 oz/1 g Quench Lip Rescue Balm in Rose, Nude, Berry, Red
BEAUTYBLENDER – Sweet Surprise Mystery Blind Bag | $20 ($28 value)
This set is a super fun way to make a practical (boring) gift like a beautyblender and cleaner way more exciting. There are 4 different possible hues of the beautyblender in the mystery bag, and it might even be the new 2019 hue!
A beautyblender normally retails for $20 on its own, so for the same price you also get a solid beautyblender cleaner in this set. And it’s super fun. What’s not to like?!
0.4 oz/11.3 g beautyblender
2 x 0.588 oz/16.6 g Mini blendercleanser solid swirl
Stila – In The Nude Mini Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Set | $20 ($33 value)
Stila always releases amazing sets and this one is no different. The formula of this lipstick is comfortable and long-wearing and these shades are great nudes to have in any makeup collection. Getting 3 different shades for only $20 is a great way to try out these shades without committing to purchasing the full-sized version of each. I almost never use an entire lipstick before it expires or I get tired of it, just saying LOL.
3 x 0.05 oz/1.5 mL Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina, Nudo Shimmer, Sogno
Fenty Beauty – Two Lil Mattemoiselles | $19
This set is such a steal! I’ve been dying to try Fenty Beauty Lip products because let’s be honest, the hype around Fenty Beauty is so real. These minis are actually quite a bit more than half of the full-sized product (1.7 g) and the full-size costs $18, so this set is definitely a deal.
Also, this set includes two of the best-selling shades, which eliminates the difficult task of choosing from all of the beautiful shades in this line.
2 x 0.035 oz/1 g Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Griselda, Spanked
Benefit Cosmetics – Confection Cuties Set | $19 ($36 value)
A set with some of Benefit’s most popular products! You literally can’t go wrong with any of these products and the mini sizes are perfect for traveling. Bonus – it comes in a super cute cake-inspired tin. Such a great choice for a gift! You don’t even have to worry about gift wrapping it. 😉
0.05 oz/1.5 g Mini Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel in Shade 3
0.25 oz/7 g Mini The POREfessional Face Primer
0.14 oz/4 g Mini Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara in Black
Tarte – Tarteist PRO to go Amazonian Clay Palette $19
Especially because of the name and packaging, it seems like it would be a mini version of Tarte’s PRO Palette, but these shades are actually exclusive to this palette.
Tarte eyeshadows are some of my favorite and just looking at this palette, I can tell this is the perfect one-stop neutral palette to travel with. I’d have all of the colors I’d need for a handful of wearable looks in this little palette. I’d definitely recommend this one!
Tarte – Tartelette Flirt Eyeshadow Palette | $19
This mini palette is another amazing one-stop palette that’s perfect for traveling. It’s a little warmer than the PRO To Go Palette and it reminds me a lot of the Tartelette Toasted Palette.
As I said with the previous palette, Tarte makes really great eyeshadows and I have no hesitation in recommending this one as well. I actually will probably buy both of them. I love the minis!
Milk Makeup – Blur Stick / Holographic Sticks / Highlighter sticks (0.19-0.25 oz.) | $14
Milk Makeup is another brand that has gotten a lot of hype recently, especially these sticks! I haven’t tried any of them out myself, but I have heard good things about all of them. The Holographic Stick in the shades Supernova and Mars were recognized in Allure’s 2017 Best of Beauty.
The full-sized (all 1 oz.) Blur Stick costs $36, the full-sized Holographic Stick costs $28, and the full-sized Highlighter Stick costs $24, so there is a difference in the value of the mini size among the three products. Regardless though, getting a mini size is a great way to test a product out to see if you like it.
Urban Decay – All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray Mini (1 oz.) | $15
I feel like you don’t really need me to tell you again how good this setting spray is LOL. But, I’ll say it again – it’s one of the BEST in the industry.
If you’re not keen on buying one of the Urban Decay sets I mentioned above that include the All Nighter Setting Spray because you don’t really care about the other product in the set, you can always get just the mini of the setting spray! And it comes in a cute ornament package for the holidays! Also perfect for a gift!
Too Faced – Hangover Replenishing Face Primer Mini (0.68 oz) | $16
The first thing I’d like to mention is that this mini is actually a half-sized mini, unlike most minis, and the price is actually less than half of the full-sized version ($34). So, it’s actually a better value to buy 2 of these instead of a full-sized primer!
As for the product itself, I haven’t tried it out, but I know tons of people love this primer and for many, it is their go-to primer, so I totally feel comfortable recommending this to you!
Benefit Cosmetics – Dandelion Box o’ Powder Blush Mini Ornament (0.12 oz.) | $15
This is another half-sized mini! Yay! If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m all about getting the most bang for your buck LOL.
Definitely more for light-medium skin tones, this blush is a great subtle pink shade with a radiant finish. I love a radiant blush!
Hourglass – Veil Translucent Setting Powder Mini (0.07 oz) | $18
I’ve actually been DYING to try this setting powder but it’s so expensive! The full-sized version is 0.36 oz. and costs $46. I definitely need to think long and hard before spending that much on loose powder LOL. So, even though the mini isn’t that great of value because it only has 0.07 oz and costs $18, it’s still a hell of a lot cheaper than $46!
Becca – Primers Mini Half-Sized (0.5 oz.) | $18
Just like the Too Faced Primer above, these primers are cheaper if you buy two of the minis instead of the full-sized version at $38. 🙂
Each of these primers are very popular products from Becca and are all rated 4 stars and above on the Sephora website. Each one does something different so it’s just a matter of personal preference!
The Backlight Primer has a radiant finish and helps you get that glow-from-within look. The First Light Primer has a natural finish and is color-neutralizing to help even skin tone. And the Velvet Blurring Primer has a matte finish and reduces the look of fine lines, pores, and imperfections.
Becca – Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Mini (0.085 oz.) | $19
I think I can safely say that Becca is totally known for their pressed powder highlighters. But, at $38 each…that’s a little pricey! Especially when you can get a highlighting palette for around that price. However, that’s where these minis come in! Treat yourself (or someone else) to some Champagne Pop (shade pictured) this holiday season.
Hourglass – Veil Mineral Primer Mini (0.31 oz.) | $19
Just like the Hourglass Setting Powder above, buying the full-size of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is hard to justify at $54. And although the mini is just under a third of the size of the full-sized bottle so it’s not the best value, $19 is a lot less than $54.
However, with all that being said, I still highly recommend this primer. It’s one of my favorite smoothing primers and it definitely makes your skin look like there’s a veil on it! I mentioned this primer in my July Favorites.
And that’s it for my under $20 makeup from Sephora gift guide! How many of these items are you going to buy? I’m honestly having a hard time narrowing it down LOL. I’m going on a trip with my mom to Tokyo next week and all of these mini-sized products would be so handy! I’m always that girl that brings like 3 pretty large makeup bags on trips, so minis would definitely lighten my load!
Thank you all for reading and stay tuned for my upcoming gift guides! I’ll definitely be putting out more guides for Sephora at different price points! Hmm, should I do Ulta, too? Let me know what you think!
