Spring Drugstore Makeup Essentials – Create Your Perfect Spring Look!
Can you believe it’s already spring?!
When I think of spring makeup, I think of fresh, healthy-looking skin, light and fun eyeshadow, cute rosy cheeks, with a natural lip and a flirty lash.
Spring is all about transitioning from the dark, sultry vibes of winter to brighter and more vibrant makeup.
Just like we do “spring cleaning,” think of spring as a way to “start fresh” with your makeup and maybe try out more color than you’re used to, or amp up your highlighter for an extra glow.
To me, spring is all about trying new, fun things!
But, trying new things doesn’t have to be expensive. Drugstore makeup brands have amazing makeup for you to get your spring makeup look on!
Here are spring makeup essentials with drugstore product recommendations to get your perfect spring look!

Drugstore Makeup – Spring Essentials
1. Hydrating/Glowy Primer
If you suffered from dry skin during the winter (you’re not alone because same here), you still want to use a hydrating primer during spring to transition out of your “winter skin.”
Although it does depend on the climate you live in, generally, spring is not nearly as humid as the summer, so you don’t need a mattifying primer just yet.
A great moisturizing primer is the Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer. I love this primer for hydrating my skin and creating a healthy glow!
If you don’t have dry skin, and would prefer not to use a moisturizing primer, how about a glowy primer?
Using a glowy primer is a great way to get a “glow from within” look and radiate a natural glow!
2. Lightweight, Fresh Foundation
Literally all I can think about when it comes to spring is “fresh.”
I want fresh, lightweight foundation that feels like I’m not wearing any foundation!
Think “your skin but better.”
The perfect foundation to achieve this is the L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation. The word “fresh” is even in the name!
This is a recent release from L’oreal and I have been absolutely loving it so far!
It provides medium buildable coverage that’s SUPER lightweight, and it really does feel fresh all day long.
3. Light Bronzer/Glowy Bronzer
During spring, I normally don’t like to go too hard with the bronzer – definitely not to the extent of a summer bronze – but I still like to add a bit of warmth to my skin.
Of course, a “light” bronzer is subjective to your skin tone. So, for me (light skin tone), the perfect light bronzer is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer.
I also love the original shade of this bronzer, but since I’m looking for more of a fresh and healthy finish to my skin, the light shade works out perfectly.
Both bronzers have just a hint of shimmer them in to create a beautiful glowy bronze!
4. Pink/Coral Glowy Blush
Spring screams pink and coral blush if you ask me!
When I think about spring, pink/coral blush is totally one of the first things that comes to my mind.
I love a coral blush all year round, but especially for spring, it’s a must!
In addition to a pink or coral shade blush, spring is the perfect season to try out a blush with a hint of shimmer in it.
5. Colorful Eyeshadow
I’m usually not one to play around with color much for eyeshadow, but there’s just something about spring that makes me want to wear pink and purple eyeshadow!
Maybe it’s because I lived in Japan for a bit and spring = cherry blossoms there, but I imagine the perfect spring look to be inspired by cherry blossoms!
While not “technically” a drugstore makeup palette, the ColourPop Chasing Rainbows Palette would be the perfect spring palette!
Another great option is the NYX Brights Ultimate Shadow Palette!
6. Bright Highlight
I’m all about a bright, blinding highlight at all times of the year, but if you’re not, there is no better time than spring to amp up your highlight!
If you live in an area that doesn’t see a lot of sun during the winter, why not bask in the glory of the re-emerging sun and allow the natural light to make you look like a glowing goddess while reflecting off your beaming highlight?
You could even go a step further and go with my cherry blossom theme and try out a pink-toned highlighter!
To give yourself the best options for your spring highlight, the Flower Beauty Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette would be perfect!
It comes with three shades, so you can mix and match depending on the look you’re going for. I love this palette – the quality is amazing, and the shades are so beautiful!
7. Natural and/or Glossy Lips
To me, spring is totally not the time for matte lips. I love a natural and fresh look for spring, which means either a gloss or lip balm!
The NYX Butter Gloss is a solid gloss from the drugstore that offers a variety of shades to choose from.
8. Wispy, Flirty Lashes
To go with a glowy, fresh look for spring, rather than a thick, bold lash, a wispy, flirty lash would fit the look much better.
Ardell and Kiss are both great budget-friendly false lash brands from the drugstore.
9. Hydrating Setting Spray
I think by this step in this post, you are well aware that I’m all about the glowy skin for spring!
So, to set your makeup in place, I would recommend using a hydrating setting spray rather than a matte setting spray.
I love the Flower Beauty Hydrating Setting Spray – I’ve already gone through my first bottle and need to buy another one!
If you’re worried about this spray making your skin look dewy or not locking your makeup in place well, not to worry – it’s definitely not a dewy setting spray and it always keeps my makeup in place all day.
If you really want to glow this spring, you can try out a setting spray with bits of glitter in it. I really like the new Makeup Revolution Glow Revolution Illuminating Spray!
10. Light Pink Nails
Although not a makeup product, I HAD to include nail polish in this post. What says spring more than having a cute pink manicure?!
I’ve been getting into doing my own nails recently and Essie nail polishes have really been treating me well!
Also, if you’re into gel nails, but don’t want to go to a salon to get them done, I highly recommend the Essie Gel Setter Top Coat.
On average, my nail color has been lasting two weeks with minimal chipping using this top coat!
Bonus: Colorful Eyeliner and Mascara
Colorful, graphic eyeliner and colored mascara has really been trending lately.
If you’ve been thinking about playing with colorful eyeliner and mascara, now is the time to do it!
Glitter liquid liner: NYX Glitter Goals Liquid Eyeliner
Colored Mascara: ColourPop BFF Mascara
And that’s it for this list of makeup must-haves for spring!
